Name & canon: Rhys, Tales from the Borderlands
(Approximate) Age: around 28
Elevator pitch: Tech-savvy middle manager from a corporate space dystopia, who got some cyborg enhancements just to get an edge towards promotion. He acknowledges that this probably means he's a bad guy, but he could definitely be worse. (He could be Jack.) He went through some adventures on the planet Pandora, the gun-slinging wild west of space, and came out of it with a TINY bit of trauma, but also some money and power, so! That worked out in the end.
Plans & plot hooks: Rhys happens to now be CEO and sole employee of the newly revived Atlas corporation in the Borderlands universe, and he's simultaneously a little annoyed at the trademark infringement going on here, and a little worried people are going to think they should be finding him. Whoops. He also just recently got randomly teleported somewhere by an alien Vault that teleports around the universe, so, he's pretty sure it's aliens. He's definitely looking to pick up some friends/allies, IDEALLY ones that aren't potentially psychopaths, but he can't be too picky.
CR you're looking for: Anything really! Positive and negative CR are both fun.

BUT NO I totally loved that tdm thread, I'd love to do more in-game if you're down! Jack's pretty much immediately suggesting they go explore the caves for water and edible... stuff, assuming PCs learn about/can find them from the get-go, and he can do his absolute best to try and drag Rhys along!

Yes absolutely we should do more!! I am excited for everything with Rhys and Jack. Especially with things just starting out, Rhys in the weird place where Jack is the only one he knows, he'll be pretty willing to stick with him. Even if he'll be constantly like WARNING WARNING I'M NOT SURE THIS IS A GOOD IDEA. Things not being good ideas has never stopped Rhys before.

YES esp since between the two of them, Rhys is probably the one with the most hands-on ~adventurer~ experience at this point! Which means he'll probably actually be better at walking long distances and climbing and tolerating heat and stuff while Jack drags ass and complains. Which will probably be even more weird because it's a Jack that trips over stuff and gets dirt in his eye and whistles showtunes instead of ~Handsome~ Jack.

Basically Jack is Miguel and Rhys is Tulio, straight up.

I mean. Rhys will probably complain a lot too. Just because he has staggered helplessly through the Pandoran landscape doesn't mean he likes it. Getting a ride from Loader Bot is way better.

But yes. Every moment, weirded out by Jack being a real human person. a kind of likeable person even? who is not even a little trying to stuff a robot skeleton into his body?

It's literally going to be an endless feed back loop of whining, god help anybody that goes with them. "oh man dirt sucks" "oh man I KNOW look at all this dirt what the hell why is it so hot" "god this planet is TERRIBLE I miss Helios" "ugh RIGHT" etc etc

Also at some point one of them needs to save the other one so there can be a really awkward "well i mean yeah i helped, we're kind of friends now right" disney moment. So things can go down in flames even harder once Jack loses his shit, obv.

IN GENERAL I feel Rhys should be made to have a lot of "we're kind of... getting along? in a real way? this guy is pretty okay, I might... like him??" feelings. Before the INEVITABLE TIME HE REGRETS EVERYTHING, ONCE AGAIN.

YES just have this period of time where everything is awesome and they kick ass together in space - ngl, I'd kind of love to get to a point where Jack can admit that Rhys is the only friend friend he's had in years.

(which also means he's going to try to drag Rhys down with him when he does start to slip SORRY BUDDY)
