Unfortunately we have sad news today as 2016 draws to a close, and I've put off writing this post for probably longer than was wise. But as I'm sure many of you have noticed by now, we the mod team of late have fallen behind in our duties to the game over the last month. After a series of unfortunate personal circumstances that bear no relation to the game, players or mod team, our wonderful Head Mod Cherry has decided to resign.
This was a difficult decision, and we wish to stress, not related to the game itself, nor to the recent player poll we conducted! We were in fact in the process of drawing up a response to the poll and discussing strategies we could implement to address player concerns in January after the Christmas period passed.
Unfortunately, along with Cherry, Radar and Mangosteen will also be resigning as mods. Vordai and our mod helper Velorum are still interested in keeping the game going, but we would need new mods to help in order to keep afloat of mod work. Vordai and Velorum are both remaining on staff, and would assist with any transitions over to a new mod team-- but we can't do it alone.
If anyone would like to express interest in stepping up to the plate to mod, please do contact us. You can PMatlasmods, or contact vordai#2794 on Discord. Outside of expressing interest in private, any moderators would, of course, be allowed to maintain anonymity.
January apps are temporarily on hold and December AC is being handwaved in the interest of making life easier for everyone. If the game continues on with a new mod team, we were looking at having an open rolling apps system-- that is, having apps open all the time, rather than open and closed in cycles, and doing away with reserves. The metaplot would not be largely affected by the transition, and we were looking at finally moving the characters into space in early January.
In the case of game closure, apps would remain closed and the game itself would remain open until the end of January for characters to wrap up any CR. If anyone has any other questions or concerns, feel free to ask them here and I'll do my best to answer them. We're deeply sorry, and thank you so much for being such a wonderful playerbase and sticking with us up until now.

There have been some ups and downs, things we've needed to work on, and some good fun had! We've done a bit of looking inward on our end, and now we'd like to look outward and see what everyone thinks so far in order to help improve and grow the game. To this end, we'd like all continuing players to please fill out this form with as much information as you'd like to share. Everything said here will be read and considered as we prepare to move into the next couple months and the next stage of the game. 'Sup, guys! Jodie here, bringing in Zack Fair from Final Fantasy VII- or if you wanna get more specific, Crisis Core. 'cause he's kinda pretty dead otherwise.
Good times.
But yeah! So, Zack! Ex-operative of ShinRa and SOLDIER First Class. Got screwed by the company he worked for. Ended up a guinea pig. You know. Final Fantasy. Crazy things be happenin'. Overall, he can be pretty upbeat, kind, and sociable. He'll probably a bit on the touchy/paranoid side after being confined like he has been and not as easy to trust people as he would typically be but he's still your loyal dumb shounen protagonist once you get to know him. He has no problem dialing things up in a lighthearted fashion with banter (and really. bad. puns.) for the sake of keeping things calm or otherwise helping others who seem to need it.

He probably needs no introductions at this point, but: he's the adventurous charming captain of the USS Enterprise, and he loves space, a good adventure and classics.

Jim's generally very sociable, but right now he'll get his mind set on figuring out where he landed and how to get everyone out of here. He literally just got out of another 'stranded on random planet' situation and he is not looking forward to repeating the experience, thank you very much.

Her body is essentially human and was once someone else's, but then it became the living extension of a ship called an ancillary. Or sometimes colloquially called a corpse soldier, just to emphasize the creepy.
'Breq' is an alias, but she's been going by it for a while now, and will probably try to pass as human at first. I imagine she'll give herself away at some point by doing something heroic but super dumb because she is the queen of plans that should not work but somehow do. Along the same lines, Breq generally projects chill but is, in fact, a ball of restrained rage and thirst for justice under a coating of polite calm. Have fun with that.
Also notable about Breq is the fact that she hums or sings nearly constantly despite not having a good voice, and her native language/culture does not recognize personal gender. So, sorry in advance for annoying earworms and misgendering.

Bull used to be a Qunari and now due to abandoning the values of the Qun he's Tal-Vashoth, but his race is colloquially still called qunari in Thedas, you can read about them here. he is a 7'6" wall of grey muscle and horns, missing an eye and two fingers and all sense of shame. before he defected he was a spy. he enjoys flirting, fighting dragons, drinking, fighting Venatori, chess, fighting demons, BDSM, and fighting. his favourite colour is pink.

this is justine bringing in yet another functioning alcoholic bc i have a type, apparently. max comes from a world where superheroes are kind of jerks (dc fans: think booster gold dialed up to 11) so she decided to be a supervillain instead
she is very polite & charming most of the time but is totally ruthless if the situation calls for it, and if she sees someone as a threat to herself she's willing to cut a bitch. on the plus side she has a protective streak a mile long, especially for kids and ladies, so if someone needs looking after she'll do it.
also she can shapeshift, but she'll be keeping that on the down low bc secrets are THE BEST.
