EVENT : PRELUDE
With our first event almost upon us, it's time to give everyone a bit of a head's up on what can be expected ICly over the next few days! This info post will covers
IC Days 4 - 6 and during this time players are free to make & start their own IC posts. In fact we encourage it! The more initiative you take, the more you'll receive :) The Atlas
rewards those who put in that extra bit of work, so by all means please go wild!
So without further adieu, here is our rough schedule for the next week:
IC DAY 4: SIGNS OF LIFE
When the sun rises on yet another dry, sweltering Kharas day it doesn't seem any different than those which have come before it. The wind is intermittent, blowing gusts of sand around as it rolls over the many dunes. What little cool the night brought with it is rapidly vanishing as the sun's warmth bakes the barren lands. The area nearest to the camp has seen a decline in the local Coral population as they're dug up, cracked open, and used for food. Scattered remains of their shells and roots are left exposed to the elements to dry and become husks useful as fuel. Some scraps are left behind to waste away, their presence seemingly unimportant and inconsequential.
Oh, how wrong this assumption.
At first it seems merely a trick of the eye; a shadowy movement in the corner of the interlopers' eyes. There hasn't been any signs of life since The First of them awoke from their deep slumbers. Nothing could survive out here without the supplies gathered from pods failing and broken prior to their eruption.
And yet again they spy movement. It sticks to the shadows and avoids direct sunlight, but if one ventures close enough they will hear near-inaudible scuffling, a chitter or two, and then--

Almost a foot in length and a quarter of that wide, these eight-legged "Trilobite" creatures can be found scurrying across the sand's surface, burrowing beneath it when approached or startled. While they aren't especially fast at running around they are
quite adept at getting deep into the sand when they need to, so catching one won't be easy. It may be worth
trying to discover the best way to handle them, as when encountered alone they will avoid all contact with the interlopers if possible. And as the morning sun rises there will indeed only be a few singular specimens to encounter.
But as the day goes on more and more of them will be seen emerging from the sand or dashing around, inspecting the plant waste left from harvesting the Corals. In fact they're
quite interested in the fibrous material and can be seen dragging bits of it away with them out towards the vast wastes. Odd indeed. And when encountered in groups the Trilobite becomes much less skittish around the interlopers; you'll find approaching and catching them (if so desired) much more easy. In fact, they won't actually attack or otherwise harm you even if you do manage to scoop one up.
At most they seem more interested in gnawing at the material of the suits. Nothing more.
There will be no IC log for this portion of the event. Players must make their own.IC DAYS 5.5-6: CHOOSE YOUR ADVENTURE
STAY.
Maybe you're too wounded, or maybe just too tired but slogging off into the desert and leaving the only means of shelter behind just isn't your thing. Others may have a drive for hot and sweaty adventure, but you're not one of them. Besides, someone has to stay behind and keep an eye on things. Especially since it looks like more and more of those Trilobites keeps popping up. Any direction you look there's at least one or two milling about. Maybe it'll be worth it to try and nab one or two... After all, they don't
seem all that dangerous.
An IC log will go up for this portion of the event on the 26th.GO.
As more and more of the Trilobites pour into the camp a distinct trail can be seen heading towards the boneyard from somewhere out beyond the sand dunes. Characters now have the option of following it to see just where these strange creatures are coming from, and perhaps more importantly:
why they've suddenly appeared. It looks like it'll be a long walk though... Those tracks continue on for at least an hour to the south.
Better pack some supplies and group up if you want to know what's out there.
An IC log will go up for this portion of the event on the 26th.

As of this post
Trilobites have been unlocked on the
Flora, Fauna & Resources page and are now available for discovery.
As we move further into the game there will be less mod-provided IC logs so we encourage players to make their own! If you have an idea for an event or want to send your characters out on an adventure to encounter something? Hit us up at our
plotting post! We will be opening up
Tier 2 Discoveries on
October 27th, so look forward to that as well.
There will be an OOC post on October 29th detailing the event results, as well as
introducing a new area for characters to explore...and
you're going to help design it!
Our monthly
Activity Check also begins on the 28th but will only require players to check-in for the first month they are in-game.
