Discoveries
DISCOVERIESBecause what's interstellar travel without a little exploration? Welcome to our discoveries page! Here players can try to glean extra tidbits, information, or locations from the current chapter. Please remember that exosuits do not store any information made through discoveries save for basic map data, and all chances of success/fail are determined by RNG. Discoveries are divided into three tiers: locations, FFR (Flora, Fauna & Resources), and item properties.
These are expedition-based. This means that in order for them to happen players must OOCly arrange an IC expedition for their characters to go out & explore on their own. Once you have plotted a course with the intent to thread & play out their trips, we will provide you with all the relevant information of what they will see, find, and discover! These discoveries are much more in-depth and count as a player plot which means it is up to players oocly to organize, and must be approved by the mods first. Characters may only investigate (1) location or direction at a time and are guaranteed a success. Examples of discoveries which can be made in this category are:
Discoveries in this category are search-based and much simpler. Players only need to submit the general area in which their characters is searching & for how long in order to determine what can be found in any given (discovered) area on the map. This means you cannot search an area if characters haven't been there before. The soft rule is that they need to be able to reach it on foot with limited supplies. FFR discoveries have a 30% chance to fail and return results such as "You found rocks!". Examples of discoveries which can be made in this category are: These discoveries are interaction-based. Once a resource, item, or species has been added to the Flora, Fauna & Resources page, all players can choose to have their character(s) interact with it to learn more about it. These discoveries require a short write-up of how the character will be investigating the desired object or creature, and have a 15% chance to fail. Characters can only investigate (1) object or species at a time. Examples of discoveries which can be made in this category are: If you would like to make a discovery please fill out the appropriate form with "DISCOVERY TIER: #" in the subject line: Tier 1: Location Discoveries Tier 2: FFR Discoveries Tier 3: Item Properties Discoveries | |
TIER 2
CHARACTER NAME |
Location Searched: The Forgotten City
Duration of Search: She'll start out as soon as it's daylight and go as far as she can before she thinks she'll need to turn around so she can get back to camp before complete nightfall. So probably about 6 hours of moving further into the city before heading back. Her sense of time and direction are inhumanely good, so *hopefully* she won't get lost...
Type of Search: This trip is less archeology and more surveying. She'll check a few buildings as she walks for anything obvious that looks useful or at least possibly informative about the people who lived there, but she's not going to go digging, yet. If she can find rock chalk-like enough to rub a big X by the door of buildings she's looked in, that's perfect. If she gets as far as some of the musical archways, that will for sure grab her attention and she'll follow them along until she has to turn back.
Also, she will be humming and singing at various volumes the entire walk. Checking acoustics is totally helpful. (Right?) You're welcome.
SUC...CESS?
What we're saying is she finds rocks. Lots of them.
But hey--at least the acoustics are great!

Does she reach the whistling archways, or that going to take another trip? (Or maybe an IC post with some of her new comrades, because safety in numbers?)
