The Mark of the Atlas Conclusion + December "Events"!

EVENT CONCLUSION

The Overseer Drone

Due to circumstances surrounding confusion for how to participate in the event and the timing around the holidays, we've rewritten the end of the event to hopefully better suit the circumstances and tide everyone over until we can full implement changes based off of your feedback in January!

The Overseer remains undefeated, but quick thinking by Lexa provided a solution: luring the drone towards the Fossilized Tree. At first nothing seems to happen as the drone barrels away towards the time-displaced plant, but the moment it hits the event horizon of its time-reach the Overseer Drone freezes in place.

...And so does everyone else. Temporarily.

Visions

Not that they'll notice since time has effectively stopped. It only lasts an hour before time suddenly snaps back to normal though! The Overseer remains frozen mid-turn, deadly clawed arm outstretched for a blow that will never come...and time around the tree has stopped completely. But that's not the only effect caused by the interference of the Overseer Drone. Pockets in space-time have opened up around the city as a result and through them characters will find themselves able to catch temporary glimpses of Kharas's past.

The natives of Kharas were a peaceful people, once nomads which roamed the vast plains of a once-lush and green Kharas. They worshipped the stars and spoke in a melodic series of clicks, whistles, and chirps; hunted only what they needed and spent great lengths of time following the many migratory creatures of their planet across the land. It wasn't until much later, when those bearing the Mark of The Atlas (there's more than Blue & Boney) arrived that things began to change. They called themselves The Last of the Atlas Travellers and sought refuge among the natives, and were welcomed with open arms.

Through these Travellers the natives came to know The Atlas as a grand, powerful force which endowed the strange Travellers with gifts and capabilities far beyond their comprehension. They could control matter by moving, creating and destroying it as they pleased. They possessed unlimited knowledge of all they laid eyes upon. They could brave depths and reaches of the planet thought impossible.

But most importantly...they brought The Atlas's Light to Kharas. Plants grew healthy and plentiful, game became abundant. The sun shone warmer and the air was fresher; prosperity followed The Atlas's Light, and through it the people of Kharas became changed: their lives became longer and their bodies stronger. There seemed no end to the gifts bestowed by The Atlas's Travellers.

Then one day The Overseer Drones, great behemoths of blue stone to the natives, descended upon the sky and rained their hot Light down onto the planet until it burned and burned...and nothing was left.

Prosperity

Visions of the past aren't the only thing characters will see however! Although these snippets of history can't be influenced or interacted with, pockets of time have opened up around the city, restoring these areas to their original state during the time Kharas was lush and green. Here characters can find fresh water, food, and even the occasional wild animal. How each of these species acts and behaves is up to player discretion! They can be as aggressive of passive as you'd like, and all are omnivorous so their diet is up to you as well :) Want to hunt something for it's fangs or fur? Go for it! Tame a companion? Sure. Go wild! (See what we did there?)

Time Warp

The natives of Kharas aren't the only ones affected by the temporal interference of the Overseer Drone and Fossilized Tree however! Characters can become displaced as well! What does that mean?

Characters can wind up running into doubles (or triples) of themselves & others from the near future or past! These temporal copies can act independently or follow a set course of actions, like they're experiencing their own time instead, i.e. Mary's time-clone acts out the last five minutes of her life before disappearing or repeating. Keep in mind that these temporal copies are the same iteration of your character and don't know anything your characters don't (or won't, within the next 24 hours)! So they won't be from the far-reaching future or way back in Kharas's past.

Want to give yourself the most epic of high-fives? The time is now. (Yes we're still doing time puns)

Boney

...Is still around! Although he's stuck under quite a bit of rubble at the moment, The Last (aka Boney) survived the onslaught of The Overseer Drone's rampage and would really like to be dug out ): As of now s/he/it(????) will remain a fixture of the game and can be interacted with at any time in posts made specifically by Boney (so they won't be tagging into other posts). For the most part they can be found standing in one place, staring, and wishing you tiny creatures didn't ask so many darn questions.

Final Notes

  • We are going to be doing some overhauling and fixing up of the game during the month of December to try and address your concerns in the poll, so please bear with us as we move into the new month! If all goes well we plan to implement them in January 2017 so please look forward to that!

  • December's activity will be check-in only. You can check in anytime after the 1st.

  • There will be no timed events for December. Instead we will have setting events for the last 2 weeks of the month which are entirely opt-in and laid back for the holiday season. And once again we encourage players to make their own open posts as there won't be any mod-created event posts until the latter half of the month. To make things easier and a little more streamlined, please assume that all information on the Discoveries & FFR pages is known amongst characters.
