1. The terminals do indeed seem dead when you first try to examine them... hmm. Almost like they're lacking in power.

1b. There are some controls you can use to pull up a star chart on it, which looks awful pretty! None of the planets or systems are recognizable, but the nearby systems all look pretty well mapped out. This is definitely space-faring tech.
